Gold

As I proudly stand upon this three-tiered step, I started to recollect back on how I had achieved this most memorable moment in my fledgeling athletic journey.

Only in my most vivid and wildest of dreams would I have actually been able to take the gold medal from the clutches of the world’s fastest man, a man who had become a legend figure for running the 100 meters, but this was my time, this was the Rio Olympics.

I was a rank outsider, so much so that some thought I was very lucky to actually make the final, it surprised me as well! But after two false starts, the odds were greatly reduced in my favour when the field went from eight to six runners.

With an ear, busting bang from the starter's pistol the race started and I blast out from my blocks and get a flyer, rising up to the sprint heading the field, the finish line came up fast, I dip first to take the spoils, the glory was mine to savour.

The crowd must have been very noisy, on my part I could not tell, I was in a silent haze just looking around in shock until the legend came over to congratulate me.

So after the massive adrenaline rush and time to contemplate on my achievement for my country, here I stand with my national anthem sounding out, playing proudly as my beautiful countries flag was being hoisted high, flying high, flying proudly.
