Yet another enjoyable poetry session with a short story thrown in for good measure, the theme for this month was to write an Acrostic Poem about Whitchurch.
The group was only 5 strong so a lot of chatting was done, which I think was a little better than just blurting your work out and then analyzing it for a few minutes.
This was my attempt at the poem which was based on that the cycle route from John O'Groats to Lands End passes through the town.
Wheeling through Whitchurch
Wheels keep turning around and around Hissing with the wind, what a lovely sound.
Intake of fluids with a beautiful view The journey though is only half way through.
Cycling from Scotland’s John O'Groats Heading southwards passing some boats.
Unique sounds ringing from the churches Riding through town and onto the marches.
Cycling on to Cornwall’s Lands’ End Hearing the wind hiss, has you start to descend.
An Acrostic Poem should read down the first letter of each line, for instance my poem reads Whitchurch all the way down the first letter.
